Chapter 4:
Adeline Bennet
His eyes sparkled all day. I couldn't keep my eyes off him. We talked for a hour or two and then went to the State Fair. He's kind, sensitive, and beautiful. I'm so glad I have him. A week ago, I could't stop thinking about how sad I was about losing my best friend, but with him, I forgot all about Josh. I wanted to go tell my friend, Jennifer, but I forgot about her, too.
Jennifer Wood, one of the sweetest girls on the planet. She is pretty, kind, funny, but not such a good friend. Becky Powers, Jennifer Wood, Lacie Burns, and I were all best friends. Becky and Lacie were best friends before Jenn and I decided to be friends with them. It was great for a whiile until things got bad for some reason. We were all at Becky's house and the others kind of left Lacie and I out. The next night, Tyler Larson was having a party. I didn't feel very good, so I didn't go. Next thing I know, I get a text from Lacie saying that they left her out and that Becky called her a whore. Being a good friend, I confronted her and Jennifer. I was told by Becky that Lacie has changed because she wears makeup and that makes her a whore. Yeah, right. Whatever. Mom called their moms and they talked. Long story short, neither one of them are my friends. It's kind of made me upset. This all happened at the same time Josh kicked me out of his life. I wonder how he's dealing with all this. Anyway, today was amazing.
"Hey why don't you win me that stuffed tiger?" I asked.
"Oh, I will. I got mad skills. Step back," He replied cockily.
"Alright. Let's see 'em. I want a white tiger."
"You got it."
He shoots and he misses.
"Mad skills, huh?" I teased.
"Yeah, well you just wait. I'll get that ball into the basket."
"Yeah, sure."
He shoots and misses.
"That's your second try. wanna give up?"
"Is that a challenge?"
"Maybe."
Three tries, time's up.
"See, I told you I'd get it," he said.
"I don't think buying it off the guy is winning, but thanks," I smiled.
We got his mom to pick us up and drop us off at the movies. It was about an hour until we had to see the movie and we were starting to get hungry. We got a pizza at the Pizzeria.
"Yeah, you can pay for food and the carnival tickets and whatever, but if you want me to go to the movie with you, I'm going to pay for the movie tickets," I demanded.
"No you're not. You may feel bad about me paying, but I got money from my mom and my mom is going to pick us up and she won't unless I pay for it all and you should't have to pay," he said with a little chuckle.
That was sweet.
"I plan the next date. I mean, if you want to have another date and I get to pay because I planned it," I said.
"Nope," he wouldn't really let it go. I guess he can pay. I don't really care.
"Fine."
The movie was great and I even held his hand. He might be more perfect than I thought. I'm confused. Usually when you have a guy that is so perfect, things are gonna turn out bad. I'm just gonna enjoy the ride for now. It's only been one date, but I think I really like him. I've never really felt true love, but this is close.
